Four years. Wow. As I start my last semester of high school tomorrow, I can’t help but think about how you’ve missed my entire high school experience. I was so excited to have my Godmom at my performances, awards shows, and most importantly graduation. Though you may not be here physically watc0hing, I know you are looking from heaven and laughing along with me every step of the way.
As I grow older, I start to realize how much I resemble you. So many people call me a “Grandma” and it makes me smile because you called everyone that lol. My Southern slang and mannerisms, along with the slick comments have become more prominent. Most importantly, I still laugh at everything, and laugh with people all the time just like we did.
Maybe if we get ice on our driveways this week (it’s real cold girl), I’ll boil water in pots and go melt it until it’s all gone like we did at your house one time. I say this all to say that I miss you so much (and you screaming Happy Birthday by Stevie Wonder over the phone every year), and I hope I’m making you proud.
Love your goddaughter,
Gabrielle
