ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gabby Goodwin is the teen CEO of Confidence, a natural hair care brand. At the age of seven, Gabby, along with her mom, Rozalynn, solved the age-old problem of disappearing hair barrettes by inventing GaBBY Bows, the first non-slip double-face double-snap barrette. GaBBY Bows and other hair products now ship around the world and appear in retail and beauty supply stores in the US, Canada, and South Africa. Gabby participates in all aspects of the business and also hosts online “Confidence in my Hair” challenges to affirm girls and empower their parents with hair care education.
Gabby’s story has been featured on The Real, Good Morning America, Aspire TV, NPR’s How I Built This, and The Today Show. She’s also received numerous accolades, such as South Carolina Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Black Enterprise Teenpreneur of the Year, and Teen Speaker of the Year. Gabby and her family live in Columbia, South Carolina.
Princess Karibo is a self-taught illustrator from Nigeria. She enjoys bringing her ideas to life and bringing representation to Black women through her work. Princess hopes her children’s books will influence young girls to see themselves as more.
